Date: September 29th & 30th Times: Saturday: 9 a.m. til noon & 1 p.m. -2 p.m. Sunday:  6:00 p.m. Places: Saturday:  1st Baptist, Dover Sunday: 1st Baptist, Russellville LUNCH IS PROVIDED!!! Register here One of the most important tasks in any church is that of making disciples.  One of the most important parts of that task is ‘teaching them’ the great truths of The Faith.  Unless a new convert is taught, he/she never progresses spiritually beyond the point of salvation and the church has not fulfilled the Lord’s Commission to make disciples (a disciple is ‘one who learns’).  In the admirable fervor to bring lost souls to salvation, we sometimes forget the equally important responsibility to teach them about the Savior who saved them!  And history has shown that in today’s culture the best way to do that is through Sunday School and Small Group bible studies. On February 4th, 2017, the ARVBA launched our newest equipping ministry which we call ‘Teach 28:20’. Taken from the Lord’s instruction in Matthew 28:20 to ‘teach them’ to observe all that I have commanded you…’, the goal of this ministry is to provide quality, practical training for all the disciple-making teachers in our churches.    The first Teach 28:20 Leadership workshop was held at the Association Office over a 4 week period and each session focused on a specific demographic (age group).  This year’s training event will feature a one-day conference on Saturday with a Worship & Preaching Celebration the following Sunday evening. The actual training will occur on Saturday and consist of three sessions.  The early training will run from 9 a.m. until noon with a short break between two breakout courses.  On Saturday morning, participants will able to attend their choice of two of the four available training classes. (Preschool Ministry, Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Adult Ministry) Pastors will enjoy a first session class exclusively for themselves and may also attend any class they choose during the second session.  The third session will begin at 1 p.m. and feature a ‘table discussion’ with all the presenters ready to answer any questions anyone may have.  These training experts will all be, or will have been, in the trenches just like the rest of us and will bring experience and practical insight to all three Saturday sessions. Sunday evening will bring the training event home as we meet at Russellville’s 1st Baptist Church for a focused time of Worship and Preaching.  The Association will lift her voice in praise and dynamic worship and Dr. Greg Abbot will bring a ‘kick-in-the-pants’ message that will encourage us to go back to our churches and act on the things we learned during the training event.  We realize most of our churches have Sunday night services of their own but we hope that, just this once, we can all move our services to one local location to celebrate, as The Association, what God is going to do in response to the attempt to better equip ourseves to ‘make disciples and teach them’. Lifeway is providing us with samples of all their teaching materials and Rusty Richardson from the main office will be there to answer any questions you might have as you consider your teaching options. As is the often the case in the ARVBA, we are sort of inventing these discipleship events as we go.  Each year we learn something new, see something we need to avoid, and discover something that works really well.  Thank you for being patient in allowing us to try new things in an effort to be of more service to our churches. Whenever possible, Associational Training Events will be offered free of charge but a tentative price of $5.00 per person may sometimes be necessary to help cover some of the food and materials cost.
